Exam and credential pathway
The exam focuses on PIMS principles and concepts and the operation of a privacy information management system.
After passing the exam, the candidate may apply for the PECB Certificate Holder in ISO/IEC 27701 Foundation designation. PECB lists no professional, audit or project-experience requirement for this entry-level credential, while application and ethics requirements remain applicable.
Course completion, examination success, certification application and credential issuance are separate stages; the credential is not issued automatically.

Access and activation
The 12-month period for the first examination, included free retake and certification application begins on the purchase date. This is separate from eLearning access: PECB provides unlimited access to the course materials and prerecorded sessions.
