The exam assesses laboratory-management principles and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements together with assessment preparation, execution, closure and programme management.

Passing the exam permits application for an eligible PECB ISO/IEC 17025 Assessor credential. Professional experience and verified assessment activity determine the personnel-credential tier; this is separate from accreditation of a laboratory.

Course completion, examination success, certification application and credential issuance are separate stages; the credential is not issued automatically.
