There are important creative and artistic achievements for the visually impaired men and women, and there are those who employed blindness in their narrative works, and here is a book that critically examines models of those experiences by activating some of the proposed critical terms, and in a manner compatible with Arab culture; some paintings by the Saudi artist Noura Hamoud are studied through (the mirror of staring), to narrate the moment of opening our eyes in awe, driven by the desire to grasp the scene, which does not separate art from the view of belittling the artist. In the historical novel, the lesson is embodied by the way the novel (The English Channel) by Bahraini writer Fared Ramadan revealed. The book discusses the system of doubt in the book (The Days) by Taha Hussein: its levels and functions, aiming to reach the features of consensus and reveal levels of difference. Then, it addresses a treatment that appeals to the scientific rigor of the poetry of two Arab poets, namely: Kuwaiti poet Saqr Al Shubayb and Yemeni poet Abdullah Al Bardouni; by interpreting and explaining the structural relationships in Al Shubayb’s work, relationships through which the poet becomes a storyteller, and applying this to all his poems, noting that the medium playing this role is the disability, represented by his being blind. A parallel methodology is proposed to test this feature, mimicking the movement of the blind himself, working on terms: oscillation, reliance, and reaching, which lead to the emergence of what is called the narrative spirit in Al Shubayb’s poetic texts, and the questioning leads through the conclusion to a reading of Bardouni’s entire poetic works, and how it was possible to view the endings of his texts! To open a new portal, which is about to offer the reader a rich experience of entering the world of renewed interpretation.
