Product description

The novel addresses one of the most important ideas raised in the arena at the beginning of the Soviet era; it is the issue of the "new Soviet citizen." Lenin and the first Soviet authority presented a specific conception of the Soviet citizen, which is the conception of the "socialist hero" that filled the pages of propaganda works of the authority that adopted socialist realism. In this work, "envy" reveals two men who reject the new Soviet system, envy its new heroes, and denounce its mechanized values that will eliminate all feelings and emotions in the name of ideology and machine control, but they are constantly accompanied by failure. The work delves into complex contradictions between the old and the new world, the rich and the poor, hatred and love. These conflicts shaped the new Soviet society at that time, and thus questions are raised about the true hero and the ways of salvation. "Envy" is a novel about unbelievable Russia, in a very confusing period; Russia full of dreams, lies, and deception, and of course: "envy."
