HAMLET & KING LEAR

Description : This is another classic, bringing two great tragic plays, Hamlet and King Lear together in one book. These plays written by William Shakespeare, an English poet and playwright, who is considered the greatest writer, are staged around the world even today.

Hamlet is a revenge drama, where the ghost of the King of Denmark tells his son, Hamlet, to avenge his murder by his uncle, who has usurped the throne and also tricked his wife into marrying him. The uncle also devises plan to kill Hamlet and in the end, everybody is killed, including Hamlet.

King Lear, after falling victim to flattery, divides his kingdom between his two daughters and banishes the third, who does not flatter, but actually loves her father. In the end, Lear, King of Britain and all his daughters die.

Both these plays, will allow the reader to realize why Shakespeare is considered the ‘King of Tragedies.’
