هذه الشجيرة العشبية معمرة متسلقة، وموطنها الأصلي آسيا الاستوائية،والأوراق مركبة والأزهار زرقاء ذات مركز أصفر تظهر من شهر يونيو إلىسبتمبر، والأفرع تنمو إلى 3 أمتار وتنمو في الأماكن المشمسة وشبهالظليلة، كما تتطلب تربة جيدة التصريف مع ري منتظم، وتلقيح الأزهار بالنحل فتتكون ثمار قرنية بها بذور، يقوم النبات بتثبيت النيتروجين الجوي،لجعله متاحاً للجذور. والنباتات الحديثة تحتاج إلى توفير داعم تنمو عليه،وهذه الشجيرة تعاود النشاط بعد الصقيع والجفاف، وتقاوم الرعي، ويمكن زراعتها موسمياً في الأحواض والأصص متدلية من النوافذ وغيرها، وهناكأصناف زراعية عدة متباينة في لون الأزهار وحجمها. والأزهار الجميلةتتكون من القلم والجناحين والقارب وهي أجزاء متداخلة في البتلات،وإضافة إلى أنها نباتات زينة متسلقة فهي نباتات طبية، وتحتاج إلى صيانةقليلة، ويمكنها النمو في أجواء الصحراء.
