To them in their heavens

Loss represents a complex human condition that carries within it various meanings, where waves of sadness, whips of pain, volcanoes of agony, earthquakes of grief, and sequences of brokenness intertwine between earth and sky. And between truth and metaphor, disappointments leap and the hands of time complete their cycle, announcing the hour of despair with its colors and shapes. Loss may be a misplacement, and it may be an absence, and it may be a very bitter departure, and perhaps it is merely a feeling of what we do not know. And death remains the greatest ruler of loss, the most painful and distressing in secret and openly. When the meanings of loss deepen within the poet and take on different states, and their hooks snatch more than a deeply connected self, with origins and branches intersecting, and with multiple human and social ties that the poet lived and lived through and for, sharing roots of belonging, seeds of love, trees of appreciation, loaves of life, and buds of happiness, then the soul becomes unable to grasp the philosophy of loss.
