Product description

As long as knowledge continues in its achievements, and its style still flows in all fields of life and its sectors, and it still achieves gains and successes as well, modernity, as a system, will remain established and dominant, unshaken, occupying the center, leaving other visions on the margin, but attracting and encompassing them. Therefore, the battle with modernity, whether in its positive or negative aspect, will not bear fruit in our Arab Islamic world, without delving into the significance of modern science, and standing at the earthquake and deep upheaval it caused in the world's view and in modern and contemporary research and knowledge approaches. The real problem that must be addressed is: Is it possible to stop science and its dominance? And how can the dominance of its vision over human perception be restrained? Some intellectual projects (such as "Taha Abderrahman" and "Wael Hallaq") have the ambition to break free from the shackles of modernity, which has become narrow due to the destruction and wounds it caused to humans. We see them dealing with modernity as a purely European craft, and this idea has a flaw. We also see them treating modernity as if it were a choice, while in reality, it is a system that emerged after a significant theoretical labor contributed to by all of humanity. This book will address some of that.
