This book contains excerpts from the great Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa titled "I Am Not Here" and the book is translated by Moroccan Rashid Wahbi. On its cover, we read a meaningful excerpt that says: "After my death, you wished to write my biography, and there is nothing simpler than that. It contains only two dates — the birth date and the date of my death. All the days belong to me alone." Fernando Pessoa (June 13, 1888 – November 30, 1935) was a Portuguese poet, writer, literary critic, translator, and philosopher. He is described as one of the most important literary figures of the twentieth century and one of the greatest poets of the Portuguese language. He also wrote and translated from English and French. Among his prominent translators into Arabic is Mahdi Akhrif. He was born in Lisbon on June 13, 1888, and his father died when he was five years old. His mother remarried and moved with her family to South Africa, where Pessoa attended an English school. When he was thirteen, he returned to Portugal for a year, then moved back permanently in 1905. He studied briefly at the University of Lisbon, and began publishing his critical, prose, and poetic works shortly after working as an advertising translator. In 1914, Pessoa found his three main alter egos, the year he published his first poem. He became famous for his literary alter egos, which number about 80 characters. These alter egos are characters invented by Pessoa, who gave them names and distinguished their political, philosophical, and religious views. Each of these alter egos wrote, translated, or engaged in literary criticism. Among his most famous alter egos are: Alberto Caeiro, Ricardo Reis, and Álvaro de Campos. Number of pages: 76
