Do not take Febuxostat: If you are allergic to the active ingredient or any other components of this medicine. If you are taking any of the following drugs: azathioprine or mercaptopurine. Precautions and warnings: Inform your doctor about all your health conditions, especially if: You have liver or kidney problems. You have heart problems or a history of heart disease or stroke. You are undergoing cancer treatment or have a condition called Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. You may experience more gout attacks after starting this medication, and you should not stop using it. Patients with heart diseases taking this medication are at higher risk of death from heart problems compared to patients taking allopurinol. You may experience liver problems after using this medication. Possible side effects: Stop using this medication and seek medical attention immediately if symptoms such as: rash or itching.
