The Iliad - Homer

About the Iliad - Homer from Dar Nota: The Iliad is one of the greatest epics of Western classical literature, where Homer laid the foundations of epic poetry in form and content. The Iliad represents the poetic epic vision of the Trojan War, a war that lasted ten years between the Greeks and the Trojans. Solomon Al-Bustani's translation is undoubtedly one of the greatest Arabic poetic translations of the Iliad, considered truly a refined literary work that mimics Homer’s epic in meters, style, language, and atmosphere. Al-Bustani equipped this brilliant translation with extensive historical and literary explanations on the text.
