Investigation, by: Juan Jose Sair

A Parisian serial killer hunts the elderly and an experienced police officer seeks to catch him, but his past and present haunt him, entering a spiral where the world of reality blends with illusions. Three Argentine critics — two of whom share painful memories from a previous era — seek to uncover the secret behind a mysterious "print" of a massive unknown-author novel. The two stories intertwine, despite the lack of an apparent link between them, and they merge before leaving the reader at the end in confusion. With his usual brilliance and his luxurious style that leans into the finest details, Juan Jose Saer presents a detective novel with his own touch, not only dismantling this literary genre but also adding a unique philosophical dimension to it.
