What does it show? Depending on the gestational age, it is used to evaluate: In the early months: - Confirm the pregnancy is inside the uterus - Hear and see the fetal heartbeat - Determine the gestational age accurately - Detect multiple pregnancies In the middle months: - Measure fetal growth - Examine organs (head, heart, spine, limbs) - Determine the location of the placenta - Measure the amount of amniotic fluid around the fetus In the last months: - Monitor approximate fetal weight - Fetal position (whether head down or not) - Assess fetal movements and amniotic fluid How long does it take?
