Aldara 5% Cream is a prescription topical medicine containing Imiquimod 5%, an immune-response modifier. In adults, it is indicated for selected cases of external genital and perianal warts, actinic keratosis, and superficial basal cell carcinoma.

Imiquimod 5%

Each sachet contains 250 mg of cream providing 12.5 mg of imiquimod.

How It Works

Imiquimod is an immune-response modifier. It stimulates local immune mechanisms involved in the body's response to the abnormal tissue associated with its approved indications.

How to Use

The frequency and duration vary according to the condition being treated, so Aldara should be used exactly as prescribed.

For external genital or perianal warts, the product information specifies application 3 times per week before normal sleeping hours, leaving the cream on for approximately 6–10 hours before washing it off. Treatment continues until visible warts clear or for a maximum of 16 weeks per episode.

Actinic keratosis and superficial basal cell carcinoma require different treatment schedules and should be managed according to the physician's instructions.

Warnings & Precautions

For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes, lips and internal mucosal surfaces. Local reactions such as redness, irritation, itching, burning, swelling, flaking or erosion can occur. Severe local reactions may require a temporary interruption of treatment under medical guidance. Unnecessary exposure to sunlight and UV sources should be minimized during treatment.
