Author's name: Jalal Burjsadar Publisher: Al-Shorouk for Publishing and Distribution Year of publication: 2025 Literary classification: Novel Brief about the book: One spring morning in 2012, while waiting for a bus that would take me to work, I saw a Gypsy young man, sweeping the street to the tunes of music coming from a mobile phone hanging at his waist, jumping with agile movements, and the broom in his hands flexible as if it were a woman he was dancing with, and in a masterful impersonation, it turned into a rifle aimed at hypothetical enemies. I was used to seeing the Gypsy, and a silent friendship grew between us, only interrupted by fleeting greetings. On a cold winter morning, I couldn't find that young man, but I heard his groan as he hid behind a wall. Before I left, I took off my coat and covered him with it, without knowing that my belongings had become in his possession. In the evening, I found him waiting for me, placing my coat on his hand to return it to me: I am not crazy, and it is not necessarily true that the Gypsy is a thief as is rumored. At that moment, while I was contemplating the Gypsy tents on the outskirts of the city, the idea for this novel was born, which tells the story of human destiny, and how a human can be a beast, and at the same time a gentle lamb, in a city composed of seven neighborhoods: its south is a large camp for expelled Gypsies, its west is a mountain with the grave of her first grandfather at its summit, a city whose inhabitants are struck by a strange epidemic; so they become on the brink of collapse, and then salvation comes from an unexpected source.
