Author: Iyad Abdulrahman Publisher: Taqween Publications Year of Publication: 2023 Category: Short Stories and Novels *** In this work, Iyad Abdulrahman addresses a topic that Arabic novels have not previously explored, or at least a different perspective on the subject of sacrificing masculinity for religious reasons. The work narrates the story of a Horn of Africa child who is forced to leave his village and lose his masculinity at the request of his mother, seeking blessing and closeness to God by joining the (Aghwat) in Medina and Mecca, a group dedicated to serving the sacred feelings, provided that its members are castrated. The practice of this system was halted in the late seventies of the last century by a religious fatwa that ended a thousand years of these practices.
