In this book, ten Spanish novelists address more than one important issue, foremost among them the affairs of the novel, its current state, and future prospects in terms of role, technique, and language, as well as the relationship of the novel with other topics and issues such as art, reality, imagination, migration, alienation, ideologies, European unity, globalization, identities, community, individual, history, wars, religions, technology, the present of the world culturally, socially, and politically, and the general nature of the role of the intellectual in it, especially the novelist.
The content of this book as a whole provides a broad and close picture of many aspects of the Spanish novel scene, the mentality and concerns of its writers, their understanding of the art of the novel, their ideas, and their visions of many issues.
In three of the dialogues, conducted personally by the translator Dr. Mohsen Al-Ramli, deliberate questions were asked about their familiarity with Arabic literature, reasons for the limited interest in it and its translation into Spanish, along with other matters related to the Spanish novel scene in general, its main themes, prominent currents and names, writers' concerns about writing, publishing, distribution, and reception, the nature of artistic transformations in styles, as well as matters related to personal experience.
