The outsider - Freida MacFadden

The Dakhil novel by the author Farida Macfaden is an exciting work in psychological suspense literature. The events take place on a stormy night inside a secluded cabin away from any signs of life. Kasey finds herself alone facing the fierce winds, power outage, and shaking walls while trying to take shelter inside her house, which seems unlikely to withstand the storm for long. In a fleeting moment, as she lifts the candle in her bedroom, she sees a pale face staring at her from behind the window. Doubts begin to arise: was what she saw real or just a hallucination created by fear and darkness? As the events escalate, Kasey realizes that danger does not only come from nature but also from that mysterious intruder hiding in the dark who knows more about her than he should. The novel relies on escalating psychological tension and a confined atmosphere, posing a terrifying question: what if the enemy is not only outside?
