The leaves are crown-like, gathered, lightly curved, dark green, with each leaf reaching up to 4 meters in length. It is considered one of the most beautiful ornamental palms that adorn palaces and gardens in various places around the world. • Royal Palm flower: The flowers are white, solitary, borne in cluster inflorescences that appear in summer. • Royal Palm fruit and seeds: Small, spherical, and when ripe, turn black. • Royal Palm planting season: Grows in spring, and can also be cultivated throughout the year in agricultural reserves and enclosed or plastic places where temperature can be controlled, sunlight reaches, or adequate lighting is available for the plant. • Suitable climate and soil for growing Royal Palm: Tropical and subtropical areas are the best places for Royal Palm to grow. This plant prefers deep, fertile, well-drained, neutral pH soil. It also tolerates full sunlight. This plant is sensitive to frost and can withstand short periods of cold, but may die if the temperature drops below –4°C. It requires regular watering but does not tolerate water stagnation around it. • How to cultivate Royal Palm: It propagates through seeds that need treatment because they are large, hard seeds. Therefore, they are soaked in water for two days before planting. The seed tip can also be scratched to speed up germination, but care must be taken not to scratch or touch the embryo inside the seed, as this can cause the embryo to die. It also propagates through suckers. • Its benefits and uses: Planted to decorate palaces, homes, and gardens. • Native habitat of Royal Palm: Mexico, parts of Central America, and the Caribbean region. It is also widespread in Saudi Arabia and many Arab countries.
