Product description
The fifteenth plate depicts a specific type of Rhododendron from the Himalayas-Sikkim mountains, drawn with detailed accuracy highlighting the flowers, leaves, and sometimes the reproductive parts (such as stamens or pistils) for scientific purposes. The plate usually shows the plant in its natural bright colors, such as red, pink, white, or yellow, with emphasis on natural shape and texture. The plate was based on field drawings prepared by Joseph Dalton Hooker during his journey, and Walter Hood Vetch turned it into a hand-colored lithograph under the supervision of Sir William Hooker at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew.
