Product description

Special request generally ships in 7 to 14 days, depending on availability. High-performance strobe produces the newly designed circuit and light-emitting unit with a guide number of 33. A high-precision aspherical optical lens has been installed above the two flash tubes to disperse even light from the center to the edge. The strobe's beam angle will increase to 110° by attaching the standard diffuser accessory. When the optional Dome diffuser is attached, the beam angle will increase to as wide as 150° (TBD). To avoid misunderstanding, the guide number (GN) and beam angle of the YS-D3 are based on land measurements (not underwater). Some competitors often state a GN measured on land and a beam angle in water, for example, GN 33 and 110° beam angle. However, this GN 33 value is based on a beam angle of 60–70°. The beam angle can be expanded in water by a dome effect, but the GN in water is significantly lower than the land measurement. Note: A land-based strobe using the same four AA batteries as the YS-D3 may show a GN of 60, but these measurements assume a focal length equivalent to 200 mm (= beam angle 12°). When the beam angle narrows, the brightness of the illuminated area increases due to the light-collecting effect. Superior consecutive firing capability to capture those critical moments. The YS-D3 uses larger capacity condensers compared to those used in competing strobes. Additionally, the D3 is equipped with a newly designed charging circuit. As a result, the YS-D3 will fire continuously at GN16 without any interval. Even when fired at GN22, it will fire again within just 0.8 seconds. When fired at guide number over 22, a two-stage ready-to-fire signal will be issued. For example, after firing at full power GN33, the strobe will visually and audibly notify when the condenser is charged to fire at GN22. Then, when the condenser is sufficiently charged to fire at GN33, a different signal will be issued. This design allows releasing more shutters in scenes where you want to capture as many images as possible, maximizing shooting intervals between scenes. Target light with increased power, incorporating a uniquely designed aluminum heat diffuser, now powerful enough to be used as a dive light. (About 4 times brighter than YS-D2) Various accessories available for all underwater imaging experiences. Dome diffuser (optional accessory) increases beam angle to 150° (TBD). Essential when using a fisheye lens or needing soft light. Snoot (optional accessory) narrows the beam angle to target a specific point. Openings diameter 25mm. Designed with an internal prism to align the target light axis with the strobe’s light axis at the center. Slave prism (optional accessory) optical guiding device to fire the strobe without fiber-optic cable. For manual use only. Effective if multiple strobes are used in fixed positions. However, the flash may not fire depending on the position of multiple flashes relative to the master flash. Excellent visibility. Backlight panel effective in dark environments. The indicator color on the back of the YS-D3 changes each time the mode switch position is changed: Blue (in DS-TTL II mode), light blue (in slave TTL mode), orange (in manual mode with pre-flash), green (in manual mode without pre-flash). The operating position is clear during night diving. Connection method with an arm can be chosen based on preference. YS-D3 comes with a straight-type ball mount. Optional YS base and new diagonal ball mount can be installed depending on the application. YS base (common with YS-D1 / D2 / D3) — traditional YS base, easy vertical swing. Diagonal ball mount (only for YS-D3) — inclined at 35° compared to straight type, making it easier to lower the strobe backward, suitable for shooting with a dome port. When installing Synchro Cord N, interference between the cord and the ball clamp is minimized.
