Product description
Strawberry is a shrub from the genus of ground berries, considered a perennial shrub, and one of the tropical fruits, with a distinctive taste and aroma. It has a thick, short stem called a crown, with two ends: one contains the plant's roots, and the other contains the growths and flowers. It is characterized by abundant production, especially in the first year. Scientific name: Fragaria - ananassa. Other names: the indulgent fruit, the fraise, the fruit of agility. Family: Rosaceae. Original habitat: its native habitat is the temperate regions in the northern hemisphere, and it has now spread worldwide. Propagation: grown from seeds, which is the preferred method among farmers, and it is also cultivated through cuttings. Planting time: planted in autumn and spring; it does not tolerate frost. Strawberry cultivation and environmental conditions: strawberry cultivation is one of the easiest crops, as it can be grown anywhere, whether in the ground or in hanging pots. It requires an average temperature of 25°C and sandy soils. It is preferable for the planting bed to be high because its roots need more space to prevent rotting. After fruiting, the color of the strawberry begins green, then white, then pink, and finally red, indicating ripeness. It is also recommended that the fruit does not touch the soil to prevent spoilage, by elevating it, such as placing straw. It is also advisable to remove dry leaves to help strengthen growth and improve fruit quality. It can be affected by fungal diseases such as powdery mildew and others, which can be treated with appropriate pesticides. Soil and fertilizer: needs peat soil mixed with sand. Watering: lightly spray with water daily without overwatering, as excessive watering causes root rot. Fertilizer: organic, twice a month. Sun exposure: needs partial sunlight. Benefits of strawberries: strawberries are rich in vitamins, containing high amounts of vitamins A, B, C, and mineral salts like calcium, iron, and phosphorus. They also contain citric acid, malic acid, and fruit sugars, providing the body with folic acid. They protect the body from toxins, boost digestive health, reduce the risk of heart diseases, and improve brain health while delaying signs of aging.
