Product description

Nolina is one of the beautiful indoor plants, with a brown trunk at its base from which long green leaves flow, resembling a fountain. It is commonly cultivated in homes due to its beauty and elegance. Nolina is characterized by its evergreen nature and is also grown outdoors, as it has the ability to retain water inside its trunk for a long time. Scientific name: Nolina recurvata Family: Nolinaceae Order: Amaryllidaceae Original habitat: from dry regions, Madagascar, Mexico, and Guatemala. Other names: Nolina, Ziloua, Elephant's Foot, Frizzled. Propagation: Ziloua or Nolina is propagated by seeds, and can also be grown through cuttings. Planting time: late winter and spring. Leaves: long, palm-like leaves with a soft texture. Height: up to 4.5 meters. Nolina cultivation and environmental conditions: Resistant to heat and drought, it retains water in the lower trunk during winter, but sheds water in summer. It does not require much care, needs a warm environment, and some light, which it gets from sunlight passing through windows or from artificial lighting inside the house, and requires fertile soil. Soaking the seeds for 48 hours is recommended; floating seeds are unsuitable. Plant the seed at a depth of 1 cm or less in small pots, then cover with plastic, and leave in the light. After germination, remove the cover and transfer to larger pots. Soil and fertilizer: Loamy alkaline soil mixed with peat moss and perlite, fertilized with NPK fertilizer once a month. Watering: Water moderately; overwatering causes yellowing of leaves and root rot. In summer, watering once every 10 days is sufficient; in winter, once every 3 or 4 weeks is enough. Sun exposure: Needs to be exposed to light near windows. Problems: Spider mites and insects are rare; it is preferable to use appropriate pesticides.
