Fluoxetine 20 mg capsule Why is Fluoxetine used: Fluoxetine is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bulimia nervosa (eating disorder), and panic attacks. Do not take Fluoxetine: If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any other components of this medicine. If you are taking any of the following drugs: Bupropion or Thioridazine. If you have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors in the past two weeks. Precautions and warnings: Inform your doctor about all your health conditions, including if you have: Liver or kidney problems. Heart problems including prolonged QT interval. Seizures or epilepsy. Bipolar disorder or mania. Low sodium levels in the blood. A history of stroke. High blood pressure. Bleeding problems or bleeding. Eye problems. This medication may cause suicidal thoughts, especially in young people, during the first months of treatment. Contact your doctor if you experience these symptoms. Do not suddenly stop taking this medication. You may experience side effects. Talk to your doctor about how to stop taking Fluoxetine. Fluoxetine interacts with linezolid, methylene blue, triptan medications, antidepressants or anxiety medications, amphetamines, phenytoin, tramadol, anticoagulants like warfarin, and electroconvulsive therapy. How to take Fluoxetine: This medication is intended for adults over 18 years old. It may be prescribed to children aged 8 and above if necessary. Take this medication as prescribed by your doctor. For depression and OCD, the usual starting dose is 20 mg once daily. Your doctor may gradually increase the dose. For bulimia nervosa, the recommended dose is 60 mg once daily. For children aged 8 and above, the usual starting dose is 10-20 mg once daily. How to store Fluoxetine: Store at room temperature from 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit (20 to 25 degrees Celsius).
