Amoxicillin / clavulanic acid is an antibiotic. It is used in adults and children to treat the following infections: middle ear infections and sinus infections, respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections including dental infections, bone and joint infections. Do not take amoxicillin / clavulanic acid if you are allergic to amoxicillin or clavulanic acid or penicillin or any other ingredients of this medicine. If you have previously had a severe allergic reaction to any other antibiotic, such as rash or swelling of the face or throat. If you have previously had liver problems or jaundice (yellowing of the skin) when taking an antibiotic. Warnings and precautions: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking amoxicillin / clavulanic acid if you: have glandular fever, are receiving treatment for liver or kidney problems, do not urinate regularly. Possible side effects of amoxicillin / clavulanic acid include: allergy, seizures, colitis. Other medicines and amoxicillin / clavulanic acid: inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking allopurinol, probenecid, or medicines to help stop blood clotting such as warfarin. How to take amoxicillin / clavulanic acid: Adults and children weighing 40 kg or more: usual dose: one tablet three times a day. Children weighing less than 40 kg: it is preferable to treat children aged 6 years or less using the oral suspension or sachets of amoxicillin / clavulanic acid. General instructions: take with food.
