Why Candisartan Silexetil is used: Candisartan Silexetil is a medicine used to treat: high blood pressure. Heart failure (weakness of the heart muscle) with decreased pumping efficiency, in cases where angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors) cannot be used, or in addition to them when needed. Do not take Candisartan Silexetil if you have an allergy to the active substance or any of the ingredients of the medication. You are pregnant. You suffer from severe liver disease or bile duct obstruction. You have diabetes or kidney problems and are using aliskiren. You are under one year old. Precautions and warnings: Tell your doctor before use if you have: Heart problems. Liver problems. Kidney problems, or if you are undergoing dialysis, or have recently had a kidney transplant. Severe vomiting or recent diarrhea. Adrenal gland disease known as Conn's syndrome (primary aldosteronism). Low blood pressure. Previous stroke. Also inform your doctor if you are using: Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (such as Enalapril, Lisinopril, Ramipril). Aliskiren. Aldosterone receptor antagonists (MRA). Possible side effects: Stop the medication and seek immediate medical attention if you experience: Severe rash or itching. Redness or peeling of the skin. Chest or throat tightness. Difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking. Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat. Frequency unknown. Other side effects include: Dizziness. Headache. Upper respiratory infections. Changes in kidney function. Other medications and Candisartan Silexetil: Tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking, especially: Other blood pressure medications. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen and diclofenac. Aspirin (if the dose exceeds 3 grams daily). Potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium. Heparin. Diuretics. Lithium. How to take Candisartan Silexetil: Take as directed by your doctor. It is preferable to take it at the same time daily. It can be taken with or without food. Doses: Adults: The usual dose is 4–8 mg daily, which may be gradually increased up to 32 mg as needed. Children: The usual dose is 4–8 mg daily, which may reach up to 16 mg depending on the doctor's assessment. Storage instructions: Store at room temperature below 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
