Lamotrigine is usually used with other medications in the treatment of seizures in patients aged two years and above, and for partial brain seizures in patients aged 16 years and above. It is also used to treat bipolar affective disorder in adult patients aged 18 years and above. Do not take Lamotrigine if: you are allergic to Lamotrigine or any of the ingredients. Inform your doctor about any symptoms you experienced during allergy. Precautions and warnings: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you experience shortness of breath, rash, swelling of the face or neck. The medication may cause Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a rare and serious condition that begins with flu-like symptoms then painful and severe rash. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice: high fever, lymph node swelling (night sweats, painful lumps, fatigue). Inform your doctor if you experience cardiac symptoms: shortness of breath, fatigue with activity, chest pain, swelling of limbs, changes in heartbeat. Inform your doctor if you notice hepatic symptoms: yellowing of the skin or eyes, light stool, dark urine, fatigue, abdominal swelling. Inform your doctor of any unusual mood or behavioral changes, worsening depression, or suicidal thoughts. The medication may cause neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, or other blood problems. Monitor: bleeding, easy bruising, delayed wound healing, fatigue, dizziness, fever or jaundice. Possible side effects include: allergy, itching, rash, headache, fatigue, abdominal pain, nausea, back pain, drowsiness. Other medications and Lamotrigine: inform your doctor if you are taking: valproate, carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, primidone. Contraceptive medications containing estrogen. Rifampicin. How to take Lamotrigine: The dose is determined by the doctor based on age, condition, and concurrent medications. Do not exceed the dose to avoid rash. Method of use: Dispersible tablets: place on the tongue to dissolve immediately.
