Sitagliptin / Metformin 50 mg / 850 mg coated tablets Why is Sitagliptin / Metformin used: This medicine contains two different drugs called Sitagliptin and Metformin. Sitagliptin belongs to a class of drugs called DPP-4 inhibitors (Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors). Metformin belongs to a class of drugs called biguanides. They work together to control blood sugar levels in adult patients with a type of diabetes called "Type 2 diabetes." This medicine helps increase the insulin produced by the body after meals and reduces the amount of sugar produced by your body. Do not use Sitagliptin / Metformin: If you are allergic to Sitagliptin or Metformin or any other ingredients of this medicine. If you have severe kidney impairment. If you have uncontrolled diabetes, such as severe hyperglycemia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rapid weight loss, lactic acidosis, or ketoacidosis. If you have a severe infection or dehydration.
