Olanzapine 5 mg coated tablets What are the indications for using Olanzapine: Olanzapine belongs to a group of medicines called antipsychotics and is used to treat the following conditions: • Schizophrenia • Moderate to severe manic episodes Do not take Olanzapine: • If you are allergic to Olanzapine or any other ingredients of this medicine. • If you have been diagnosed previously with eye problems such as certain types of glaucoma. Precautions and warnings: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Olanzapine. If you suffer from any of the following diseases, inform your doctor as soon as possible: • Stroke • Parkinson's disease • Prostate problems • Bowel obstruction • Liver or kidney diseases • Blood disorders • Heart disease • Diabetes • Seizures Possible side effects: Like all medicines, this drug can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience: • Unusual movements mainly in the face or tongue. • Blood clots in veins, especially in the legs (symptoms include swelling, pain, and redness in the leg), which may travel through blood vessels to the lungs causing chest pain and difficulty breathing. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek medical advice immediately. • A combination of fever, rapid breathing, sweating, muscle stiffness, drowsiness or sleepiness. In the early stages of treatment, some people may feel dizzy or faint (with a slow heart rate), especially when standing up from lying or sitting. Specifically, inform your doctor if you are taking medications for Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, depression, or antibiotics. How to take Olanzapine: • Your doctor will tell you the number of Olanzapine tablets to take and how long to continue taking them. The daily dose ranges from 5 mg to 20 mg. • You should take Olanzapine tablets once daily after your doctor’s advice. • Try to take your tablets at the same time each day.
