Usage instructions There is no fixed dosing schedule to control high blood sugar in type 2 diabetes patients using Metformin XR. The dose of Metformin XR should be individualized based on effectiveness and tolerance, without exceeding the maximum recommended daily doses. The maximum recommended daily dose of Metformin XR for adults is 2000 mg. It is usually given once daily with the evening meal. A low dose should be started and gradually increased to reduce gastrointestinal side effects and determine the lowest effective dose to control blood sugar.
