Why is Candisartan Cilexetil used: Candisartan Cilexetil is used for treatment: high blood pressure. Heart failure (weak heart) with decreased heart muscle function when an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor cannot be used, or in addition to it. Do not take Candisartan Cilexetil: if you have an allergy to the active ingredients or any other components of this medicine. if you are pregnant. if you have severe liver disease or bile duct obstruction. if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are treated with a drug called Aliskiren. in children under 1 year of age. Precautions and warnings: tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including: if you have heart problems. if you have liver problems. if you have kidney problems, or are undergoing dialysis, or have recently had a kidney transplant. if you have or have recently had severe vomiting or diarrhea. if you have a condition called Addison's disease (also called primary aldosteronism). if you have low blood pressure. if you have ever had a stroke. if you are taking any of the following medications: angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (such as Enalapril, Lisinopril, Ramipril), Aliskiren, or an aldosterone receptor antagonist (MRA). Possible side effects: stop using this product and seek immediate medical care if you experience: rash. itching. red or ulcerated or peeling skin. chest or throat tightness. difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking. unusual hoarseness or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency of these side effects is unknown. Side effects include: dizziness. headache. upper respiratory infection. change in kidney function. Other medications and Candisartan Cilexetil: tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking. especially if you are taking: other blood pressure lowering medications. non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen and diclofenac. acetylsalicylic acid (if you are taking more than 3 grams daily). potassium-containing supplements. heparin (to prevent blood clotting). water pills (diuretics). lithium (for mental health issues). How to take Candisartan Cilexetil: take this medication as prescribed by your doctor. take this medication at the same time each day. take this medication with or without food. the usual dose ranges from 4–8 mg per day. your doctor may increase the dose up to 32 mg if necessary. in children, the usual dose ranges from 4–8 mg per day. your doctor may increase the dose up to 16 mg if necessary.
