Product description What is Kromavina and what are its indications? Kromavina contains the active ingredient Ondansetron, which is from the group of antiemetics. It is used for the following cases: Prevention of nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy (in adults and children). Prevention of nausea and vomiting caused by radiation therapy for cancer patients (in adults only). Prevention of nausea and vomiting after surgical operations (in adults only). Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you want additional explanation about these uses. What should I know before taking Kromavina? Do not take Kromavina if you: Are allergic to Ondansetron or any of the ingredients of the medication. Are taking Abomorphine (for Parkinson's treatment). If you are unsure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use. Warnings and precautions Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting Kromavina if you: Have previously had heart problems (such as heart failure, shortness of breath, and ankle swelling). Have irregular heartbeats. Are allergic to similar drugs (Granisetron or Palonosetron). Have liver problems. Have intestinal blockage. Have electrolyte imbalances (potassium, sodium, magnesium). Kromavina and other medications Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking, including: Carbamazepine or Phenytoin (for epilepsy). Rifampicin (for infections like tuberculosis). Antibiotics such as Erythromycin or Ketoconazole. Heart rhythm medications. Beta receptor blockers. Tramadol. Medications affecting the heart (Haloperidol – Methadone). Cancer medications (Anthracyclines – Trastuzumab). SSRIs like: Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Sertraline… SNRIs like: Venlafaxine, Duloxetine. Pregnancy and breastfeeding Not used during the first three months of pregnancy unless after consulting the doctor; it may increase the risk of cleft lip or palate. If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy, ask your doctor before use. It is not preferred during breastfeeding because some amounts pass into the milk. Important information Kromavina contains lactose. If you are intolerant to sugar, consult your doctor. How to take Kromavina? First: To prevent nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy or radiotherapy Treatment dose: Adults: 8 mg one to two hours before treatment, and 8 mg after 12 hours. Following days: Adults: 8 mg twice daily — can be used for 5 days. Children over 6 months: The doctor determines the dose based on weight or body surface area. Dose: up to 4 mg twice daily — for 5 days. Second: To prevent nausea and vomiting after surgical operations Adults: 16 mg before the operation. Children over one month: Preferably given by injection. Liver patients (moderate and severe): The maximum daily dose should not exceed 8 mg. Important notes during use The effect of the medication begins within 1–2 hours. If vomiting occurs within an hour of the dose → take the same dose again. Do not take more than prescribed by the doctor. If nausea persists → consult your doctor. In case of overdose Go immediately to the doctor or emergency, and bring the medication box with you. If you forget a dose If you forget the dose and you feel nausea: Take it immediately, then take the next dose at its scheduled time. Do not take a double dose. If you do not feel nausea: Just take the next dose at its usual time. Possible side effects Allergic reactions (emergency cases): Wheezing and difficulty breathing. Swelling of the face, eyelids, or tongue. Skin rash or hives. General deterioration. Very common (1 in 10): Headache. Common (1 in 10): Fever or redness. Constipation. Liver function changes (especially with Cisplatin). Uncommon (1 in 100): Hiccups. Low blood pressure. Arrhythmia. Chest pain. Seizures. Unusual movements or tremors. Rare (1 in 1000): Dizziness or feeling of spinning. Blurred vision. Arrhythmia with possible loss of consciousness. Very rare (1 in 10,000): Temporary loss of vision that usually returns within 20 minutes. How to store Kromavina Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date. Store below 30°C. Do not use if the packaging shows signs of damage. Do not dispose of in sewage or general waste — ask the pharmacist about the proper disposal method.
