What you need to know before using cetirizine: Do not use this medication if: you are allergic (severe allergy) to cetirizine hydrochloride or any of the ingredients of this medication; you have serious kidney problems; you are allergic to lactose. Precautions and warnings: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication if you are: have kidney problems; have epilepsy or are at risk of seizures; have a urinary retention predisposition (such as spinal cord injury or prostate enlargement) as cetirizine increases the risk of urinary retention.
