Product Description Product Name Histop, Syrup, relieves cold and allergy symptoms – 100 ml Scientific Name Chlorpheniramine 0.4 mg / ml Two Syrups Histop Syrup belongs to Cold and Allergy medications How Chlorpheniramine works It is an antihistamine medication that prevents histamine from binding to its receptors "H1" in respiratory cells, blood vessels, and the digestive system from the first generation causing drowsiness Medical uses of Histop Syrup Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist told you. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Shake well before use. Average doses: Children from 12 to 23 months: give 2.5 ml up to twice in 24 hours if needed. Children from 2 to 5 years: 2.5 ml up to 6 times in 24 hours if needed. Children from 6 to 11 years: give 5 ml up to 6 times in 24 hours if needed. Children aged 12 years and above, and adults: 10 ml up to 6 times in 24 hours if needed. Do not give more than every 4 to 6 hours. Do not give to children under 1 year. Do not give more than the recommended amount above. If symptoms do not disappear within 5 days, talk to the pharmacist or doctor. Dose adjustments may be made in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions. If you take more than prescribed, talk to the doctor or go to the hospital immediately. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is time for the next dose. Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the missed dose. Side effects of Histop Syrup Although the following side effects are not common for everyone, some patients may complain of: Drowsiness (which may make your child sleep), dizziness, blurred vision, headache, seizures, dry mouth, difficulty urinating, sweating, skin rash, indigestion, stomach pain, loss of appetite, muscle pain or weakness, decreased movement, changes in heart rate, palpitations, low blood pressure. Using Histop Syrup during pregnancy and breastfeeding If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you might be pregnant, or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Your doctor will discuss the potential risks and benefits of using this medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Useful tips to reduce allergy severity Stay hydrated: drink plenty of water to thin mucus. Inhale steam: take a hot bath or boil water and pour it into a bowl, face the bowl (stay at least 1 foot away), place a towel over the back of your head to form a tent, and inhale. Use some inhalers (air humidifier), for example, Vicks air humidifier, to loosen mucus. Avoid inhaling irritants such as dust, perfumes, or pollutants. Wear face masks to reduce exposure to allergens. Smoke sometimes causes airway irritation and inflammation, which can turn into bronchitis. Quitting smoking will help you get rid of cough.
