The description of Pantoprazole is a medicine belonging to the group of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), works to reduce stomach acid secretion. Used for short-term treatment in adults to relieve symptoms of acid reflux such as heartburn and acid regurgitation. Indications for use: Gastroesophageal reflux disease Heartburn Increased stomach acidity Do not take Pantoprazole if you are allergic to Pantoprazole or any of the ingredients of the medication You are taking medications for HIV treatment such as Atazanavir or Nelfinavir Warnings and precautions: Consult your doctor or pharmacist before use if you suffer from: Liver problems or jaundice Anemia or gastrointestinal bleeding Unexplained weight loss or difficulty swallowing Persistent vomiting or vomiting blood or black stools History of stomach ulcers or gastrointestinal surgery Important notes: It does not provide immediate relief, and it may take from one day to several days to see improvement Not used as a preventive measure for acidity It is not recommended to use it for more than 4 weeks unless directed by a doctor Long-term use may affect absorption of vitamin B12 and magnesium and may increase the risk of bone fractures Possible side effects may include: Headache Diarrhea or constipation Nausea or vomiting Bloating of the stomach Dizziness Skin rash or itching See a doctor immediately if abnormal symptoms appear such as severe rash, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or severe abdominal pain.
