Please attach the medical prescription in the attachments below. Ofloxacin 0.3% – eye drops (solution). What is Ofloxacin and why is it used? Ofloxacin eye drops are an antibiotic used to treat external bacterial eye infections such as some types of conjunctivitis. It belongs to the fluoroquinolone group (4-quinolone), and works to eliminate the bacteria causing the infection. Do not use Ofloxacin if: you are allergic to Ofloxacin; you are allergic to other quinolones; you are allergic to benzalkonium chloride or any component of the medication. Warnings and precautions: use with caution if you have a history of allergy to antibiotics of the same group. Prolonged use may lead to a new bacterial infection resistant to treatment. Use with caution if there is ulceration or defect in the surface of the eye. It may increase sensitivity to sunlight; it is preferable to avoid direct exposure to the sun during treatment. Special warning for the heart: use with caution if you are: born or have a family history of QT prolongation; have electrolyte imbalance; have severe slow heartbeats; have heart weakness; female or elderly; use medications that may affect the electrocardiogram. Possible side effects: like all medications, may cause side effects not experienced by everyone. Serious side effects (stop the medication and see a doctor immediately): severe allergic reaction in the eye or eyelid; severe skin rash or blister; life-threatening severe allergic reaction; serious arrhythmia. Other side effects may include: irritation or discomfort in the eye; redness, inflammation, tearing; light sensitivity; blurred vision; feeling of a foreign body in the eye; swelling or puffiness around the eye; eye pain or dryness; dizziness or nausea. Drug interactions: inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are using: medications affecting heart rhythm; anti-arrhythmics; tricyclic antidepressants; some antibiotics (macrolides); some antipsychotics. Dosage and method of use: used exactly as directed by the doctor. Usual dose: one to two drops in the affected eye every 2–4 hours during the first two days, then 4 times daily afterward. Duration of treatment should not exceed 10 days. Correct usage method: wash your hands well; tilt your head back and look upward; pull down the lower eyelid to form a pocket; instill one or two drops; close your eye for 30 seconds; do not touch the dropper to the eye or any surface; tightly close the bottle after use. Storage: keep below 25°C; out of reach of children. After opening, the bottle should be used within 28 days only. Do not use if the safety seal is broken; do not use after the expiration date.
