Description: The White Nile Organic Coffee Project started in 1998 to harness the region's potential and promote Arabica coffee cultivation by training farmers on the best farming methods and practices. In 2003, the project obtained its first organic certification, which is considered an achievement that helped attract other prestigious certifications, including sustainable farming accreditation from UTZ and Rainforest Alliance. The White Nile program (or the White Nile) is named after the Morrison Falls, which are located a few kilometers away. There, the great Nile River flows between volcanic rocks, producing white foam and turning the Nile's color to (white), then it flows into Lake Albert.
Kwakum encouraged renewable methods and activities among participating members over the years, distributing about 150,000 coffee seedlings annually to its partner farmers and distributing many varieties, including (which are very suitable for the region's climate and for producing high-quality coffee, SL14). During the harvest season, Kwakum encourages farmers to deliver their crop to one of the very distinguished coffee washing and processing centers, where the coffee is dried with consistent quality across all harvests. This gave the project greater control over quality than before.
Then, the pulping process takes place at the main mill, where the cherries are pulped after complete drying, and the beans are sorted from impurities, then sent to the export center, where they begin their journey to the roasting house and then to a cup of coffee worthy of your morning!
