Product description

black sticky insect trap

A black double-sided sticky insect trap, specially designed to attract and capture flying insects, especially the tomato-infested Tuta absoluta, as well as various butterflies and nocturnal insects, making it the ideal solution within integrated pest management (IPM) programs.

Benefits of a black sticky insect trap

  • Highly attractive to the target insect: Black sticky traps to mimic the natural environment preferred by Tuta absoluta and butterflies.
  • Close monitoring of infestation: helps in detecting the first appearance of the insect before it spreads.
  • Reduced pesticide use: Reduces the need for chemical spraying, resulting in healthier crops free from pesticide residues.
  • Environmentally friendly: Contains no toxins, safe for humans, animals and bees.
  • Double-sided: Maximum use of space, as the insect sticks from both sides.

Technical specifications for a black sticky insect trap

  • Color: Dark black, designed to attract totas and butterflies.
  • Dimensions: Available in size 100×30 cm.
  • Adhesive layer: Non-toxic glue, resistant to UV rays and heat, does not decompose quickly.
  • Double-sided: Two adhesive sides with a removable insulating layer.
  • Number of layers: 2, one protective layer for each face.
  • Suspension system: It has a hole for hanging it with a wire or tying it to wooden supports.

How to use a black sticky insect trap

  1. Remove the sticky insect trap from the package.
  2. Remove the first protective layer from one side.
  3. Hang the trap vertically inside the crop using a thin wire or string.
  4. Remove the second protective layer from the other side.
  5. Distribute the traps at a rate of 15-20 traps per acre at the beginning of the season for monitoring, and 30-40 traps for high density.

When will it be added?

  • From the beginning of the season: immediately after planting the seedlings in the permanent ground or greenhouse.
  • When the first butterfly appears: after spotting any butterfly with the naked eye or on traditional white traps.
  • In the spring and autumn seasons: when the insect population is at its peak.
  • After wind or heavy rain: if the adhesive layer is damaged by dust.

How to add

  • In greenhouses: Hang one trap every 5-10 linear meters, at a height of 20-30 cm above the top of the plant.
  • In open fields: Distribute them in a net, every 10-15 meters between the traps.
  • Hanging direction: Vertically to increase the sticking area on both sides.
  • Renewal: Replace the trap when it is full of insects or every 4-6 weeks even if it is not full because the dust reduces the stickiness.

Dosage for use

  • For monitoring (early detection): 10 to 15 traps per acre.
  • For mass control (when an infestation appears): 30 to 50 traps per acre (depending on the severity of the infestation).
  • For small spaces (greenhouse 3x6 m): only 3-5 traps.

Storage and preservation

  • Insect glue should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and high heat.
  • It remains in the original sealed package until use.
  • Do not store near fertilizers or pesticides with a strong odor.
  • Shelf life is two years from the date of production under suitable storage conditions.
