Velvet Tonka perfume from BDK PARFUMS Velvet Tonka, a unisex floral perfume. This is a new perfume, Velvet Tonka, released in 2021. Alexandra Carlin signed this perfume. Perfume introduction: almond and orange blossom Heart of the perfume: rose extract, Balkan tobacco extract Base of the perfume: Tonka bean extract, Madagascar vanilla extract, Amiris Sharbini scent, amber wood Tonka beans are an element full of contradictions, sometimes reminding us of vanilla leather, sometimes almonds, and sometimes revealing chocolate aspects. On June 22, 2021, BDK Parfums presented Velvet Tonka to the press, it is the fifth edition of the Matières Collection, which skillfully explores the perfumer’s palette with the desire to elevate the beautiful ingredients through strong and elegant creations. Velvet Tonka features a trio of Tonka beans, orange blossom, and almonds. When applied to the skin, it envelops it like an Eastern way covered with powdered sugar, decorated with gentle Tonka beans, almonds, and rose petals to add a velvety touch, with a hint of absolute tobacco to give it a honey-like feeling. In the base, addictive hints of milky amber wood enhanced with ambroxan and vanilla for an unparalleled velvety and sensual experience. It is a new creation that immerses us in the heart of a Tonka bean surrounded by almonds and orange blossom, authored by perfumer Alexandra Carlin (Semiriz). The composition is a reference to the Moroccan roots of David Benedek, the founder of the brand, who wanted to pay tribute to the flavors and colors of this region. Alexandra Carlin first imagined the “Ghazal horn” accord, which represents the sweet regional treat with its light texture, elegantly sprinkled with powdered sugar and subtle hints of rose, orange blossom, almonds, and vanilla. Velvet Tonka is a tribute to the Moroccan origins of founder David Benedek and to the icons associated with the region through its flavors and landscapes, like a sweet, pleasant breeze coming directly from the Atlas Mountains. Alexandra Carlin reimagined this initial aromatic drawing with the idea of addiction and sensuality in mind. She embroidered around the Tonka beans, which is a perfume in itself, to add a refined touch to the sides of almonds, honey, and hay / Amsterdam tobacco. Because she loves working with echoes, she extended the tobacco leaves from the Tonka beans using absolute tobacco with herbal and honeyed notes, contrasting the dark side of tobacco, ambroxan, and Amiris (a slightly milky sandalwood note) with the floral side of the composition (absolute rose and orange blossom) and the gourmand notes of the initial accord. Tonka lactone, a captive of Symrise, emphasizes the vanilla effects of the Tonka bean material with its milky notes; coumarin and vanilla complete the entire perfume, supporting the “Ghazal horn” accord and blending harmoniously with the tobacco. This perfume explores the effects of almond-like Tonka beans in an original way. Alexandra Carlin balanced the synthetic effects with the lightness of the elegant powdered sugar accord and the denser, warmer amber dimensions of the perfume. It is an interesting creative work that requires some time to discover; it turned out to be more complex than initially thought.
