The official Raspberry Pi camera module with 8-megapixel v2 resolution can capture high-definition video, as well as still images. It uses a high-quality Sony IMX219 image sensor with 8-megapixel resolution, a specially designed additional board for Raspberry Pi, which features a fixed-focus lens. It is capable of capturing still images at 3280 × 2464 pixels, and supports 1080p30, 720p60, and 640x480p60/90 videos. The Raspberry Pi Camera V2 connects to the Pi via one of the small connectors on the top surface of the board and uses the dedicated CSI interface, designed specifically for interaction with cameras. It is suitable for mobile or other applications where size and weight are important. It connects to the Raspberry Pi via a short ribbon cable. It is easy to use for beginners.
