Product description
Whether this literary work is an autobiography of Kosinski or a fictional novel, it continuously connects its deep ties to both. And whether it is entirely authored by him or inspired in some parts by Polish folk tales, it remains a unique literary masterpiece in itself, born from the disasters of the twentieth century that still extend in the history of this century we live in. The words here come out of the eye of the camera. The style ceases to be mere rhetoric and decoration to place the reader in the living breath of enormous human experiences experienced by a young boy, whose early life among the claws of the Second World War enables him to be exposed to the freezing hands of deadly ideologies. Perhaps the pain he endured was nothing but cold ideas, gradually stiffening. Its edges hardened, turning into knives that slaughter a bird just because a hand painted it from the outside. Making it appear different from its other sibling, in a world made by the modern human being unworthy of consideration. That is why the child in the novel screams out: "The Germans confused me. Oh, what a loss. Is a world as bankrupt and cruel as this world worthy of ruling?"
