Product description
Tibṣirat al-Adilla fi Usul al-Din is a book on the fundamentals of religion and the science of Kalam, authored by Imam Abu al-Ma'in al-Nasafi al-Hanafi (died 508 AH), one of the most famous scholars of the Maturidi school. It is one of his most important Kalam books, the largest in size, the most comprehensive, and the most well-known among scholars of Kalam, to the extent that he became known as Abu al-Ma'in the one of Tibṣirat. This book is considered a fundamental original work on Islamic creed according to the Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, and the method of Imam Abu Mansur al-Maturidi. It is also regarded as the second reference in understanding Maturidi doctrine after the book of Tawhid by the founder of the school, Abu Mansur al-Maturidi. However, the book Tibṣirat is more comprehensive, detailed, and clearer in style. It is a presentation of the Maturidi beliefs, refutations of their opponents, especially the Mu'tazila and the Karramiyya. The book contains a large section dedicated to discussions with the Mu'tazila and responses to their claims, which they have raised since the emergence of the science of Kalam. The book also indicates the continued existence of the Mu'tazila until the time of the author, sometimes mentioning phrases like "some Mu'tazila in our time" or "in our lands." Additionally, the author frequently responds to the Ash'arites and discusses with them, sometimes showing agreement and other times differences between him and them. He also addresses many other Kalam factions and non-Islamic sects.
