His name is "Chance" because he was born by chance, he has no family, he has no identity, he does not know how to read or write, a gardener working in an old man's garden completing the last moments of his life. His relationship with the world does not go beyond the garden wall and the television screen that summarized the outside world and relieved him from the hardship of discovering it. The old man dies and Chance finds himself on the margins, homeless and aimless, but fate stands by his side again and makes him a star that confuses the entire American society and gathers all media outlets and pushes the most important media agencies to chase after him believing he has the formula to lift the American economy from its stagnation. This novel was turned into a film selected by the American Library of Congress to be preserved in the National Film Registry, making it of cultural, historical, and aesthetic significance.
