Product description
It was among the deeds of the masters of eloquence that they turned to Arab poetry and selected from it what they found admirable, choosing with skill and knowledge, not ignorance and blindness. At the forefront of these selections was the choice of Abu Tammam Habib bin Othos Al-Ta’i in his diwan known as "Al-Hamasah," which (consensus among critics has been reached that no better selection of the excerpts has been made than what he compiled), as Al-Marzouqi states. Among the care given to the diwan of Al-Hamasah is what has been achieved in our time by Sheikh Abu Malik Al-Awdi, who turned to this diwan and selected from it about a thousand lines for memorization and citation. This thousand lines needed an explanation that would serve as a pretext for students and learners to engage with it, and a means to understand it in the way of memorizing and reciting it. So, this book is an explanation that brings its meanings closer to beginners and makes its structure easier for the rider, facilitating taking from it and bringing closer the view of it. The author of the explanation began at the start of each piece by mentioning its news and the poet’s story, then followed that with an explanation of its vocabulary along with the rhetorical nuances and grammatical points whenever the context required. Then he followed that with a prose formulation of the piece, to make understanding easier, so that the piece passes over the reader in more than one way.
What distinguished this beloved explanation was that it paired similar poems, gathered likenesses with their examples, and also emphasized the heights of goodness by frequently citing verses from the Qur'an, to demonstrate the close relationship between the Book of Allah and the language of the Arabs.
