Product description

A brief about Jami' al-Bayan about the interpretation of the verses of the Quran, Tafsir al-Tabari: It is the most noble and famous of interpretations, and Al-Tabari is considered the father of the interpreters as well as the father of Islamic history. His interpretation is among the most upright and greatest, and it is the primary reference for scholars of tafsir. The author has a special methodology: he mentions the verse or verses from the Noble Quran, then explains their interpretation and meaning, citing the most famous opinions, and supporting the opinion with what is narrated from the Companions and the Followers. He then discusses the preference of opinions and the choice of the most correct, addresses grammatical aspects, derives rulings from the verse, and favors what he sees as correct. This book is the most authentic and earliest written in tafsir by narration, meaning what is established through transmission—explanations of the Quran by the Quran itself, what the Messenger, peace be upon him, narrated, and what is reported from the Companions and Followers. It is also one of the most important sources of tafsir by opinion and reasoning, through ijtihad, deduction, and the use of language and intellect. Al-Nawawi said: "The nation has agreed that no one has authored a tafsir like that of Al-Tabari." Imam Al-Suyuti said: "His book is the most noble and greatest of tafsirs, as it addresses the clarification of opinions, their preference over others, grammatical analysis, and deduction. In this way, he surpasses the earlier tafsirs." Imam Al-Nawawi also said: "The nation has agreed that no one has authored a tafsir like that of Al-Tabari." Ibn Jareer encompassed all the heritage of tafsir that was scattered before him in small books, from the era of Abdullah ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, until the first half of the third Islamic century.
