A brief about the book The Oppressed on Earth: Taha Hussein excelled here in depicting scenes of the painful Egyptian reality in the forties of the last century, a reality in which poverty, ignorance, and class division spread, a society that cares only about the wealthy, and does not look at those whom fate has condemned to be tortured. These different images made the author gather them in suffering, even if the names, places, and events differed, and he succeeded in describing their characters completely as if he was experiencing them and saw the most detailed aspects of their lives, to the point of exaggeration in description, describing the walk, stance, and bowing. The Dean of Arab Literature wanted to send short messages to those who do not feel the suffering of those classes, to provoke them to change their painful reality, and the motivation for this timeless social literary work was the hope that the 1952 revolution in Egypt would create a new society, characterized by equality and justice.
