A brief about the Diwan of Jamil Buthayna: No mention of Jamil bin Ma'mar except that love of the pure love that the children of Adhra, the tribe of the poet, made famous. It was said that if they loved, they would die, because of their honesty and sincerity, and because of their chastity and restraint from passions when they gathered with their beloveds, despite the distance and deprivation they faced.
Jamil bin Abdullah bin Ma'mar Al-Adhari was affected like other suffering poets. He loved Buthayna bint Huba' bin Han bin Rabi'ah, from Adhra, she is his cousin, meeting him from Han of Rabi'ah in lineage.
It was said that he loved her when he was a young boy, and she was a girl who did not reach maturity, and thus his love for her grew, so he stood before her and composed poetry about her, mentioning her name once, and sometimes using another name, until he became famous with her and she became famous with him, so he was called Jamil Buthayna.
This book from the series "Diwan of the Arabs" contains within it what is tender and pleasant of Jamil Buthayna's poetry in love, pride, praise, and satire. Since most of his poetry, as previously mentioned, is in love, a separate chapter was dedicated to love poetry in this book, containing all his poems in this genre.
Other themes such as praise, pride, and satire are gathered in one separate chapter; in addition, at the end of the book, are the individual verses that do not belong to love or other themes.
