Product description
In the mountainous Huila region of Colombia, La Cabana Farm is nestled between lush hills fed by the Magdalena River and the towering Andes Mountains. This farm is managed by the Pérez family, with Danilo Pérez leading the third generation of the family in their journey to produce high-quality coffee.
Danilo, who inherited his passion for coffee from his father, Gilberto, has always been fascinated by how to enhance coffee flavors. After a trip to Australia, where he worked as a barista in a specialty coffee shop, Danilo discovered a new world of coffee flavors and processing. Upon his return to Colombia, he decided to apply what he learned to his family's farms.
At La Cabana Farm, coffee beans are grown at altitudes between 1,850 and 1,900 meters, providing ideal conditions for the growth of unique varieties such as Caturra, Castillo, and sometimes Geisha and Pink Bourbon. The coffee is processed using innovative methods, such as 200-hour anaerobic fermentation in airtight containers, giving the coffee complex flavors of strawberry, pink grapefruit, and floral notes.
The farm is not only renowned for its coffee flavor, but also for its commitment to sustainability. Under the shade of guamo, carbonero, and cedar trees, plants thrive, providing an ideal environment for protecting biodiversity. This commitment to diversity is reinforced by the farm's Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center certification.
La Cabana Coffee is more than just a drink; it's a story of family, passion, and innovation. It's the result of a shared effort and a commitment to coffee quality and sustainable farming ethics, making it one of the finest specialty coffees in Colombia.
