And the scholar of India, Al-Kandahlawi, may Allah have mercy on him, with his keen insight and faith-filled conviction, realized that if faith and certainty are to settle in the heart of the Muslim, they must be grounded in the biography of the Master of creation and in the stories and conditions of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them. So he took the matter seriously and authored his beneficial book, The Life of the Companions. His intention was not to write a new book of biographies, as the Arabic library is full of brief and lengthy books; rather, he aimed to understand the prophetic method in building a person. He sought to identify it and trace it in every element of this construction. Thus, his book is organized into chapters that tell their lives, behavior, and benefits. The scholar Al-Kandahlawi did not write his book merely to learn about the lives of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, but also to make this book a reference and a constitution for every caller and preacher, so that they read it, embody it, and let it fill their hearts. The author was granted happiness in this book, and it gained acceptance; it became one of the precious books, widely spread, and people competed to acquire it and benefit from its knowledge from the very first publication. This book gathered from the news, biographies, stories, and tales of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, what is rarely found in a single book, because it borrowed from many sources: such as Hadith books, Musnads, history books, and the books of classes. Therefore, the book presents that era and depicts the lives, characteristics, morals, and thoughts of the Companions, making it a true scientific encyclopedia. Type of paper: Shamwa
