The comfort of the hearts with the loss of children

Whoever loses their child, their calamity is painful and their grief is immense. But Allah inspired the people of religion and faith with patience and made it from their noble character. The investigators present this book as comfort for the nation and its peoples (after the calamities that left women widowed and the fruit of the heart harvested, thousands of lives taken), and what the eminent scholars wrote, especially those who wrote their works sincerely, and wrote with the pen of the bereaved, not with the pen of the wailer. Indeed, the calamity of death fell upon the son of our author al-Sakhawi — may Allah have mercy on him — so he presented this book to be a balm for every widowed mother and a grieving father, where he mentioned in this book the reward of patience for losing children, the states of the righteous predecessors at the death of their sons and loved ones, and what consoles the afflicted, such as the calamity not being from oneself, and being often traveling, and the blame, and that he will meet it in the everlasting abode, and other forms of consolation, including the ignorance and wailing at funerals, and that the deceased is tortured by the crying of his family over him, among other digressions.
